Who is a Mother?
A mother is not just a woman that brings to existence others to nurture.
A mother goes far beyond that expression.
A mother is that one who is pregnant with other people’s challenge.
A mother brings to birth by her contribution to other people’s vision.
She is not self-seeking.
She is selfless.
She is not impatient.
She is persevering.
She does not give up willingly.
She is enduring.
She is there at all times; good and bad times.
She is loving, and caring.
She does not hurt other people’s feelings.
She is God fearing.
She will not just touch the life of her children.
She will also make impact in the life of everyone that comes her way.
Examples of “A mother” in the scripture are the following: Queen Esther; she said for the sake of others, “I will go to the king, If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16).
Ruth said to her mother in- law, “wherever you go, I will go, where you die, I will die” (Ruth 1:16,17).
Prophetess Deborah said “the village life ceased in Israel until I Deborah arose a mother in Israel” (Judges 5:7).
The Bible recorded that Dorcas was full of good works and charitable deeds, the widows stood weeping at her death (Acts 9:39), because she had affected their lives. What impact are we making in other people’s lives? What will you be remembered for when your days here on earth are over; “are you really a MOTHER?”
