This one thing is all you need
To neglect the word of God is to neglect Jesus Himself. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God (John 1:1). Mary and Martha both loved Jesus. Jesus came on a visitation to their home, on this occasion they were both serving Him different ways. Martha thought Mary’s style of serving was inferior to hers; she didn’t realize that in her desire to serve, she was actually neglecting her guest; she’s distracted with serving. Martha reported Mary to our Lord Jesus for leaving her alone in the distraction.
Jesus answered, and said to her “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things but one is needed” (Luke 10:41-42).
Jesus did not blame her for her hospitality but only advised she set her priorities right to go after the “one thing” that upholds all things (Hebrews 1:3).
What are you busy doing for Jesus that you are no longer spending time with His word? What is that assignment from God that has shifted your focus and taken you away from His presence? It is possible for one’s service to Christ to depreciate into mere busy work unnoticed. Jesus made it clear that separating yourself from Him, you can do nothing (John 15:5).
This one thing is all you need to make life beautiful, it is all you need to walk over circumstances of life and the same thing you need to enter into rest here and thereafter.

To be short of or lacking in this one thing is to be miserable and stranded in life. Your services in the Kingdom are good but they are not rewardable if they are not in-line with this “one thing”. There are no answers to prayers when they are not based on this “one thing”, so also sacrifices and offerings are not acceptable when they are void of the one thing.
Reposition yourself this year, get your priority right. Give all attention to the word and all other things will fall in their rightful places (Matthew 6:33). Above all things let the word be the Centre and ruling force of your life.
Jesus is Lord!
There are no answers to prayers when they are not based on this “one thing”, so also sacrifices and offerings are not acceptable when they are void of the one thing.
